At the beginning led class I will share some basic Ashtanga Yoga knowledge for about 5-10 minutes. Eight Limbs of Yoga(1)

Ashtanga yoga, in Sanskrit is aṣṭāṅgayoga, astau means eight, anga is a limb, Ashtanga Yoga means the eight limbs of yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is Patanjali’s classification of classical yoga, as set out in his Yoga Sutras. He defined the eight limbs as: 阿斯汤伽瑜伽的梵语是 aṣṭāṅgayoga,astau指的是数字8,anga是肢的意思,比如臂,腿,翅膀,树枝。所以aṣṭāṅgayoga翻译成中文又叫做8支瑜伽。巴坦伽利在他的瑜伽经里,把古典瑜伽分成了8个分支: アシュタンガヨガはサンスクリット語でaṣṭāṅgayogaといい、astauは数字の八を意味し、angaは肢体を意味します。そして、アシュタンガヨガは和訳すると八支則ヨガという意味になります。パタンジャリのヨガストーラに記載されている古典的なヨガの分類は以下の八支則です: *中文的翻译多种多样,重在理解。 Practicing Ashtanga Yoga means practicing all of the eight limbs. Dṛṣṭi(Gazing Point)

Dṛṣṭi means gazing point. There are nine dṛṣṭis in the āsana practice. If the dṛṣṭi indicated for the āsana is too difficult, one may always revert to nāsāgra dṛṣṭi. With time and practice, the proper dṛṣṭi for each posture will be possible.
